Angela Scanlon
Broadcaster, TV presenter, podcaster & author
Angela Scanlon is an Irish broadcaster and author known for hosting shows on the BBC, ITV and RTÉ.
Angela’s work as a stylist led her into TV studios where she fell in love with broadcasting. Her first major documentary Oi Ginger! aired on RTE in 2014 to critical acclaim. This led to follow-up series Angela Scanlon: Full Frontal which tackled taboo subjects such as extreme makeovers, fitness, and nudity.
Since beginning her work with the BBC Angela has hosted The One Show, cult classic Robot Wars, BBC Two’s hit interior design show Your Home Made Perfect, Trumps Unlikely Superfans for BBC Three as well as coverage of T In The Park and the BAFTAs. Angela has her own Saturday night chat show on RTÉ One Angela Scanlon’s Ask Me Anything and in 2023 she took part in Strictly Come Dancing alongside pro-partner Carlos Gu.
In 2022 Angela published her debut book, Joyrider: How Gratitude Can Get Help You Get The Life You Really Want, to rave reviews. Part memoir, part self-help guide, Joyrider sees Angela chart her own journey into the world of self-development.
In 2024, Angela took over from Graham Norton, hosting her own Virgin Radio Weekend breakfast show, and 2025 saw Angela take on a team captain role for ITV1’s Pictionary hosted by Mel Giedroyc and co-host the BBC’s Pointless with Alexander Armstrong. Over Christmas 2025, Scanlon appeared in the BBC's two-part Celebrity Apprentice Christmas Specials in aid of Children in Need. Her performance impressed, and in early 2026 she was announced as the new host of The Apprentice: Unfinished Business (formerly You're Fired!), replacing Tom Allen as the show entered its landmark 20th series.
In February 2026, she filled in for Cat Deeley on ITV's This Morning, co-hosting alongside Ben Shephard to considerable viewer praise.
Scanlon has been widely praised for her natural presenting style and her ability to make guests and audiences feel at ease. A recent profile in The Irish Times described her as following in the footsteps of celebrated Irish broadcasters like Terry Wogan, Dara Ó Briain, and Graham Norton, noting that she is, ‘veering towards national treasure status, not just here, but across the water.’
