Banjo Beale

Bestselling Author, interiors designer and TV star

Banjo has captured the hearts of the Inner Hebrides islands, and the nation, with his warmth, humour, new BBC series, and glorious interiors books.

Banjo Beale is an interior designer, TV presenter and author based on the Isle of Ulva in Scotland. He first captured the hearts of the nation alongside Alan Carr on BBC’s Interior Design Masters, before earning his first BAFTA for the hit series Designing the Hebrides. Now in its second series, the much-loved show has gone on to receive a Royal Television Society Award, a second BAFTA nomination and is shown around the world.

In 2026, Banjo debuted his charming and heartfelt new series, The Grand Island Hotel, following his journey with husband Ro and their rescue dog, Grampa - and pigs, Kath and Kim - as they transform an abandoned mansion on a remote Scottish island into a five-star retreat - blending design, farming, food and adventure.

Banjo shares his design expertise and signature wit as a judge on BBC’s Scotland’s Home of the Year, and has featured as a sustainability and design expert on ITV’s This Morning.

From hunting antiques to creating resourceful, characterful spaces, Banjo brings warmth, creativity and authenticity to everything he does. His bestselling books Wild Isle Style and A Place in Scotland have been reprinted around the world, cementing his reputation as one of Britain’s (via Australia) most original and inspiring voices in design and storytelling.
