David Navarro

Campaigner, advocate, film maker and storyteller

A powerful advocate for criminal justice reform, David uses his own experience of the penal system to campaign for change.

David Navarro is a filmmaker, advocate, and influential voice in criminal justice reform, whose transformative journey began during a 10-year prison sentence. While incarcerated, he discovered his passion for storytelling through filmmaking, using a smuggled phone to teach himself the craft. Since his release, Navarro has channelled his experiences into impactful media projects aimed at deterring crime and humanising ex-offenders.

David founded a podcast, Delinquent Nation, interviewing former prisoners to share cautionary stories and inspire change. His work expanded with Channel 4, where he produced and presented a three-part online series and the award-nominated documentary, ‘The Secrets of UK Prisons.’ His investigation on phone theft has been watched over 1 million times.

A sought-after speaker, Navarro delivers talks in prisons as well as a variety of corporate talks, while his expertise has led to media appearances and a judging role at the Edinburgh Film Festival.

Renowned for his unparalleled network of ex-offenders in the UK, Navarro leverages his access to provide unique insights into crime-related narratives, positioning him as a bridge between marginalized voices and mainstream audiences. His mission: to reshape perceptions of justice through storytelling.
